Social Economy Scotland was funded by SCR to produce a range of Learning Points showcasing work in terms of regeneration and the social economy in Scotland.

Learning points are a way of passing on what people learn from working and talking together.  They record what the discussion was about, what questions the participants hoped to answer, what questions they felt were answered and, and what useful working principles emerged from it.

Learning points try to distil from the experience of the people at the discussion what worked and what didn't work as they tried to achieve their aims.  Our learning points encourage good practice and networking, build up a picture of what is happening in community regeneration, and keep a record of the journeys made by particpants.

The 3 Learning Points produced by SES on behalf of SCR are:

  • Measuring Social Added Value -

This learning point looks at the lessons learned from a number of Social Economy Scotland pilot projects which looked at how to measure the impact (social added value) of their work on the community. Social added value describes how a business or organisation improves the quality of life of individuals and communities.

  • Public Social Partnerships (PSP's) -

This learning point looks at the lessons learned from two Social Economy Scotland pilot schemes developed in partnership between social economy and public sectoragencies. The schemes resulted in the formation of two organisations

  • Business Development for the Social Economy -

This learning point looks at four Social Economy Scotland (SES) pilot business development projects
